About Bullet for My Valentine
The band started in 1998 as Jeff Killed John, a covers unit playing Metallica and Nirvana material. Internal friction and lineup instability nearly ended things before they began, including the departure of original bassist Nik Cradle just before a critical demo session. The group dissolved temporarily but reformed with bassist Jason James, then cycled through name changes, settling on Bullet For My Valentine. Their persistence paid off when they signed to Sony Records via Visible Noise in October 2004, giving them the platform to build their catalog.
Their material reflects the Welsh metalcore aesthetic that competed with bands like Lostprophets and Funeral For A Friend during that period. The band developed a style mixing melodic guitar work with aggressive vocal delivery and breakdowns that appealed to collectors across the metalcore spectrum. The Groove Hunter currently tracks 6 editions of their releases, including the 20th Anniversary pressing of The Poison, multiple limited editions of Gravity on LP and 10 inch formats, and several exclusive colored vinyl variants.
