The Lumineers are a Denver-based folk rock duo built around Wesley Schultz's vocals and guitar and Jeremiah Fraites' drums and percussion, with cellist Neyla Pekarek contributing through 2018. Their debut single Ho Hey became a crossover hit in 2012, establishing them as accessible indie folk acts with pop appeal.
About The Lumineers
Schultz and Fraites started writing together in 2002 after the death of Fraites' brother and Schultz's best friend, channeling their grief into songwriting and performance. They spent time in New York before relocating to Denver, where they recruited cellist Pekarek through an advertisement. The combination of classical strings, stripped-down arrangements, and melodic hooks became their signature sound.
Their self-titled debut arrived on Dualtone Records in April 2012, with Ho Hey climbing to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and dominating alternative radio. Cleopatra followed in 2016, then III in 2019, which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Most recently, they released BRIGHTSIDE in 2022. The band's catalog has attracted collectors interested in both their studio releases and live recordings, with pressings ranging from standard editions to deluxe and colored vinyl variants.
