Slipknot formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1995 as a nine-piece heavy metal outfit built on intense percussion, layered guitars, and Corey Taylor's visceral vocals. The band's self-released debut Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. caught local attention before they signed with Roadrunner Records in 1998 and went on to define a generation of metal through relentless touring and festival presence.
