Tucker Pillsbury adopted the stage name ROLE MODEL in early 2017 after a brief run as rapper DILLIS. The shift from hip-hop to singing marked the beginning of his distinctive approach to pop music. His breakthrough came with the self-released EP ARIZONA IN THE SUMMER, recorded in his closet in late 2017, which eventually led to a meeting with Mac Miller and a signing to Interscope Records in 2018. The name itself references Paul Rudd's character from the 2008 film Role Models, a fitting choice for an artist whose work centers on personal vulnerability and introspection.

Pillsbury's path to music wasn't straightforward. He initially pursued film at Point Park University in Pittsburgh but dropped out after wrist injuries from skiing and skateboarding accidents left him bedridden and dependent on music equipment his friends had left in his dorm. This forced isolation became creatively productive. His releases include the EPs oh, how perfect (2019) and our little angel (2020), followed by his debut album Rx (April 2022). His lyrics address subjects like depression and complicated relationships with an openness that has resonated with listeners seeking authentic pop music.

The Groove Hunter currently tracks 11 editions across his catalog, including Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye) on Canary Yellow 2 LP and Kansas Anymore on Baby Blue LP, along with multiple variants of his earlier work like our little angel on Milky White.
