About Mac Miller

Malcolm McCormick grew up in Pittsburgh teaching himself music and releasing his first mixtape as EZ Mac in 2007 at just fifteen. He built momentum through K.I.D.S. in 2010 and Best Day Ever in 2011, which included the hit single "Donald Trump". His debut album Blue Slide Park, released on Rostrum Records in November 2011, debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 despite being released independently, a rare achievement that established him as a serious voice in hip-hop.

Miller's studio albums showed clear artistic progression. Watching Movies With the Sound Off in 2013 brought a more personal approach with appearances from Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler The Creator, and ScHoolboy Q. The 24-track mixtape Faces in 2014 deepened his exploration of substance abuse and introspection. His move to Warner Records in 2015 brought GO:OD AM, which shifted toward energy and optimism. The Divine Feminine in 2016 explored love and featured Kendrick Lamar and Anderson Paak, while Swimming in 2018 returned to heartfelt struggles alongside hope. He died September 7, 2018 from an accidental overdose at age 26, leaving Swimming as his final statement and later inspiring the posthumous Circles in January 2020, produced with Jon Brion and completed with his family's involvement.
