About Kaytranada
Louis Kevin Celestin grew up in Montreal after immigrating from Haiti, and started making waves in the early 2010s through remixes and mixtapes under the alias Kaytradamus before settling on KAYTRANADA. His ear for detail and willingness to move between genres caught attention quickly, leading to a deal with XL Recordings and the 2016 release of 99.9%, which took home the Polaris Music Prize and the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year.
By 2019, with Bubba released on the major-label RCA imprint, KAYTRANADA had established himself as a producer who could navigate both underground sensibilities and mainstream collaborations. The album featured work with Pharrell, Kali Uchis, and Masego, and the project won two Grammy Awards at the 2021 ceremony. His collaborative reach extends to artists like Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs, and Robert Glasper, showing his ability to work across hip-hop and R&B contexts. He also records as one half of The Celestics with his brother Lou Phelps.
The Groove Hunter currently tracks 6 editions of KAYTRANADA releases, including BUBBA, 0.999, and the Bubba Exclusive Limited Edition Transparent Smoke Colored 2x Vinyl LP, giving collectors multiple entry points into his discography across different formats and pressings.
