About Anamanaguchi

The project started when Peter Berkman began making chiptune music in 2003 as part of the 8bitpeoples collective. He eventually connected with Ary Warnaar, James DeVito, and Luke Silas, and the band's origin story is distinctly New York art-school: all four members met while studying fashion at Parsons, where they worked internships at Armani, Prada, and Gucci. Their 2006 Power Supply EP dropped as a free download, establishing the DIY ethos that would define their approach.

The debut full-length, Dawn Metropolis, arrived in March 2009 with seven tracks that expanded the chiptune-rock formula beyond its original constraints. That summer they released a series of free singles through their website, building momentum heading into their biggest career move: a commission from Universal and Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley to compose the original soundtrack for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game. The work showcased their ability to write complex, layered compositions within the framework of video game audio.

By 2013, Anamanaguchi had established their own label, dream.hax, and launched a successful Kickstarter campaign for Endless Fantasy, a 22-track album that pushed their sound further into expansive, orchestral territory while maintaining the chiptune core. The Groove Hunter currently tracks 6 editions across their catalog, including Scott Pilgrim Ex (Original Soundtrack) (Amazon Exclusive), Scott Pilgrim Vs.
