A Day to Remember emerged from Ocala, Florida in 2003 as a post-hardcore band that bridged metalcore intensity with pop punk accessibility. Their hybrid approach and consistent touring presence built a dedicated collector base across multiple album eras.
About A Day to Remember
The band solidified their sound through a series of lineup shifts in their early years. After releasing And Their Name Was Treason on Indianola in 2005, drummer Bobby Scruggs was replaced by Alex Shelnutt in 2006, the same year they signed with Victory Records for For Those Who Have Heart. By the time of Homesick in 2009, lead guitarist Tom Denney had been replaced by Kevin Skaff, establishing the core lineup that would carry the band forward. Jeremy McKinnon's vocal delivery and Neil Westfall's rhythm guitar work remained constant throughout these transitions.
Their commercial trajectory shifted notably with What Separates Me from You in 2010, which expanded their reach considerably. A 2011 lawsuit with Victory Records over their contract terms created a gap in releases, ultimately settling in October 2013 alongside the arrival of Common Courtesy. The band continued with Bad Vibrations in 2016 and You're Welcome in 2021, maintaining their touring schedule across this entire span. The Groove Hunter currently tracks 4 editions across their catalog, including Homesick, What Separates Me From You, For Those Who Have Heart, and the What Separates Me From You 15th Anniversary Electric Smoke pressing.
