About the Grindcore genre
The genre emerged from a collision of punk's DIY ethos and metal's technical aggression. Structurally, grindcore songs operate in the opposite direction from traditional rock: they're deliberately short, stripped to their essence, and played at speeds that demand absolute precision from musicians. Tempos often exceed 200 BPM, with riffs that buzz rather than sing. The aesthetic rejects clarity for a dense, abrasive wall of sound that mirrors the genre's lyrical preoccupations with social critique, visceral imagery, and provocative subject matter.
