Wolf Alice are a four-piece rock band from North London that emerged from Ellie Rowsell's initial solo project in 2010. Their sharp, dynamic sound across three studio albums has earned them Mercury Prize recognition and a devoted collector following.
About Wolf Alice
The band took shape gradually, with Rowsell joined by Joff Oddie on guitar, then drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis. Their early run of singles like Fluffy (2013) and Bros (2013) built momentum through BBC Radio 1 support. The self-titled 2012 EP introduced their name, lifted from Angela Carter's short story, establishing the literary sensibility that would mark their approach throughout their catalog.
Visions of a Life (2017) marked a significant step forward, arriving with lead single Yuk Foo and followed by Don't Delete the Kisses, Beautifully Unconventional, and Heavenward. The album earned the Mercury Prize in 2018, validating their progression from promising newcomers to substantial artists. Blue Weekend (2021) confirmed their trajectory, landing a 2022 Brit Award for Group of the Year and spawning The Last Man on Earth and Smile as standout moments. The band has since explored extended versions of their material, including Blue Lullaby (2022) and companion live recordings.
The Clearing arrived in August 2025 as their fourth studio album, continuing their pattern of focused album cycles. The Groove Hunter tracks five editions across their discography, including Blue Weekend, Wolf Alice The Clearing Exclusive Flower Filled with Pull-Out Booklet, and several multi-album sets that let collectors assemble their core run.
