About Vince Staples
Staples emerged from North Long Beach's Ramona Park area in the early 2010s through collaborations with Odd Future members, particularly Earl Sweatshirt and Mike G. His 2012 collaborative mixtape Stolen Youth with Mac Miller established his presence as a sharp, introspective voice. The Hell Can Wait EP in 2014 introduced singles like Hands Up and Blue Suede that caught critical attention before his major label debut.
Summertime '06, released in 2015 to widespread critical approval, marked Staples' full arrival as a solo artist. His follow-up Big Fish Theory in 2017 shifted into more experimental territory, incorporating dance and electronic production that signaled he wasn't interested in repeating the boom-bap formula. FM! arrived in 2018 as his third album, while appearances on projects like Gorillaz's Humanz showed his appeal extended beyond hip-hop spaces. Beyond music, Staples created and starred in his own Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show, in 2024.
