Usher Raymond IV released his self-titled debut at 15 in 1994, but found his footing with My Way (1997), which delivered his first US number-one single "Nice & Slow" and established him as a chart force. His third album, 8701 (2001), sold eight million copies worldwide and included two US number-one hits, "U Remind Me" and "U Got It Bad," cementing his role as a leading R&B artist entering the 2000s.
Confessions (2004) became a career pinnacle, moving over one million copies in its first week and eventually selling more than 15 million worldwide while earning a diamond RIAA certification. The album produced four consecutive US number-one singles: "Yeah!", "Burn", "Confessions Part II", and "My Boo." Billboard later named Confessions the top solo album of the decade.
