About The Strokes
The Strokes formed officially in 1998 when childhood friends Julian Casablancas, Fabrizio Moretti, and Nick Valensi brought in guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and bassist Nikolai Fraiture. Their first album, Is This It (2001, RCA), arrived as a raw and focused statement anchored by tracks like Last Nite and Someday. The record captured the energy of New York's underground rock circuit and positioned the band as essential voices in the early 2000s indie rock revival.
Room On Fire (2003) sustained the band's momentum with songs such as 12:51 and Reptilia, proving they could build on their debut without repeating it. First Impressions Of Earth (2006) marked a turn toward experimentation, with Juicebox and You Only Live Once demonstrating a willingness to expand beyond their original template. Later records like Angles (2011) and Comedown Machine (2013) pushed further into synth-driven and electronic territory, with tracks such as Under Cover of Darkness and One Way Trigger showing the band's capacity to shift direction while retaining their core identity.
