The Killers are a Las Vegas rock band that emerged in the early 2000s with a sharp, synth-driven sound that set them apart from their contemporaries. Formed in 2001 and named after a fictional band in New Order's Crystal video, they built their catalog into one of the most collected modern rock discographies, with global sales reaching 28 million records.
About The Killers
The band's breakthrough came with Hot Fuss in 2004, a debut that introduced their distinctive blend of electronic and rock elements. Tracks like Somebody Told Me and Mr. Brightside established them as major players in the rock landscape, with the latter reaching the UK Top 10. Their momentum accelerated with Sam's Town in October 2006, recorded at The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The album's first single When You Were Young hit number 2 in the UK and helped Sam's Town move over 700,000 copies worldwide in its first week. Additional singles like Bones (with a Tim Burton-directed video) and Read My Mind extended the album's reach internationally.
The band released Sawdust in November 2007, a compilation of B-sides and rarities that showcased their range through covers (Joy Division's Shadowplay, Dire Straits' Romeo and Juliet) and collaborations like Tranquilize with Lou Reed. Day & Age followed in 2008 with the standout single Human, establishing The Killers as consistent album artists rather than one-hit acts. Battle Born arrived in 2012 after a touring break, marking their fourth studio effort with notable singles Runaways and Miss Atomic Bomb. Wonderful Wonderful debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2017, and they continued with Imploding the Mirage in 2019, demonstrating sustained creative output across nearly two decades.
