Playboi Carti
7 vinyl records found
Playboi Carti is an Atlanta rapper who built a devoted collector base through unconventional vocal work and atmospheric production that prioritizes mood over traditional rap structure. His approach to the microphone, particularly his distinctive baby voice inflections, separates him from peers and makes his vinyl releases distinctive listening experiences for collectors seeking left-field hip-hop.
About Playboi Carti
Jordan Terrell Carter emerged from Atlanta's SoundCloud rap scene in the early 2010s before signing with Awful Records in 2014. His breakthrough came through ASAP Rocky's AWGE imprint starting in 2016, leading to his self-titled mixtape in 2017 which introduced "Magnolia" and "Wokeuplikethis" to broader audiences. That same year he founded the Opium collective and label, establishing himself as both artist and A&R with an ear for emerging talent including Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely.
His studio albums moved the needle commercially and critically. Die Lit arrived in 2018 to strong commercial reception, while Whole Lotta Red in 2020 secured his first number-one album placement on the Billboard 200 and generated lasting discussion among critics. After collaborations with Travis Scott and Kanye West throughout the early 2020s, including the number-one single "Carnival," Carter released Music in 2025 to continue his chart momentum with another number-one debut.
The Groove Hunter currently tracks 5 editions of Carti releases, including Whole Lotta Red, Playboi Carti, Die Lit on 2 LP, MUSIC on 2 LP, and the Whole Lotta Red 5 Year Anniversary Edition Rain Cloud White pressing, giving collectors multiple entry points into his discography across different formats and variants.
