About Noah Kahan

Kahan started writing songs at age 8 and uploaded early work to SoundCloud, eventually catching the attention of manager Drew Simmons and established songwriters like Dan Wilson while still in high school. He deferred his Tulane University admission to pursue music full-time, signing to Republic Records in 2016 and working with producer Joel Little on early material. His first single Young Blood arrived in January 2017 and accumulated significant streaming numbers, followed by the EP Hurt Somebody in January 2018, which featured a re-recorded collaboration with Julia Michaels.

Kahan's debut album Busyhead dropped in June 2019, establishing his songwriting voice across a full-length format. The 2020 EP Cape Elizabeth marked a stripped-down moment recorded at a home studio in Vermont during the pandemic, while his second album I Was/I Am arrived in September 2021. His third album Stick Season, released in October 2022, returned to stronger folk elements and marked a departure from the pop-leaning production of earlier work. The album was written during his time back in Vermont and features material that balances nostalgic songwriting with accessible melodies. Kahan has toured extensively since 2017, opening for artists like Ben Folds, George Ezra, and James Bay before headlining his own tours across North America and Europe.

The Groove Hunter currently tracks 11 editions of Kahan's vinyl catalog, including Stick Season in green vinyl, the two-LP edition of Stick Season, Busyhead, Cape Elizabeth on aqua 12-inch, and The Great Divide on American Rust pressing, along with variant editions and live recordings from Fenway Park.
