About Natalia Lafourcade
Born in Mexico City to a musical family, Lafourcade grew up in Coatepec, Veracruz, where she studied extensively under her mother's guidance using the Macarsi Method, a pedagogical approach developed for musical and personal development. By age 17, she was encouraged to pursue a solo career and recorded her debut LP with Sony Music, which blended pop, rock, bossa-nova and Latin elements and included her breakthrough hit 'En El 2000'. Her early work as Natalia y La Forquetina, particularly the 2005 album Casa produced by Emmanuel del Real of Café Tacuba, established a more mature, rock-inflected direction while maintaining pop sensibilities.
Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Lafourcade deepened her artistic range. Her 2009 album Hu Hu Hu reached the top 10 in Mexico and received Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, while her 2015 album Hasta La Raíz achieved significant streaming success with the track reaching number 5 globally and number 1 in Mexico on Spotify's Viral 50. She recorded the Oscar-nominated duet 'Remember Me' with Miguel for the film Coco in 2017, performed at the 90th Academy Awards, and won a Grammy in 2023 for Un Canto Por México - El Musical.
