About Lorde

Ella Yelich-O'Connor adopted the stage name Lorde while still in her early teens, drawing inspiration from aristocratic imagery. After signing with Universal Music Group in 2009, she began collaborating with producer Joel Little in 2011. Their work on The Love Club EP, initially self-released on SoundCloud in 2012, generated significant momentum before a commercial release in 2013. The single Royals became an international chart-topper, propelling her debut album Pure Heroine to critical and commercial success that same year.

Lorde's second album Melodrama arrived in 2017 and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, solidifying her position as a major artist. She also contributed to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, recording Yellow Flicker Beat among other tracks. Her third studio album Solar Power (2021) marked a shift toward indie folk and psychedelic territory, reaching number one in her home country and top-10 internationally, though responses from critics and listeners diverged sharply on the direction.

Throughout her career, Lorde has earned two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, and a Golden Globe nomination, along with recognition from Time and Forbes during her early years. She has also contributed songwriting to projects by artists including Broods and Bleachers.
