Elizabeth Woolridge Grant emerged from upstate New York to New York City in 2005, working through various projects before "Video Games" went viral in 2011 and secured her deals with Polydor and Interscope. Born to Die arrived in 2012 with "Summertime Sadness," establishing both commercial momentum and critical attention. Ultraviolence in 2014 introduced guitar-driven production and debuted atop the Billboard 200, while Honeymoon and Lust for Life maintained her cinematic sensibility with returning stylistic elements from her earlier work.

Norman Fucking Rockwell in 2019 shifted toward soft rock textures and earned substantial critical praise. She continued with Chemtrails Over the Country Club and Blue Banisters in 2021, followed by Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd in March 2023, which included "A&W" and "The Grants" as notable tracks. Del Rey has also written for film and television, contributing "Young and Beautiful" to The Great Gatsby, "Once Upon a Dream" to Maleficent, and collaborated with Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus on "Don't Call Me Angel" for Charlie's Angels. She published Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass, a poetry and photography collection, in 2020.

Her accolades include two Brit Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, and nominations for eleven Grammy Awards.
