About Kali Uchis

Karly-Marina Loaiza grew up between Alexandria, Virginia and Colombia, where she picked up piano and saxophone as a teenager while developing a parallel interest in visual arts. Her 2012 self-released mixtape Drunken Babble marked her recorded debut, followed by early singles like "Know What I Want" and "Lottery" that showcased her ability to direct her own videos. By the time she shared collaborations with Snoop Dogg, GoldLink, Tyler the Creator, and Major Lazer, her production sensibilities and distinctive vocal approach had already caught attention across multiple scenes.

After releasing the independent EP Por Vida in 2015 with productions from Diplo, Kaytranada, and Tyler, Uchis signed with Virgin EMI and shifted into a major-label phase. A series of singles including the Kaytranada-produced "Only Girl" featuring Vince Staples and Steve Lacy, plus her feature on Daniel Caesar's "Get You," positioned her as more than a collaborator by late 2016. Throughout 2017 she appeared on tracks by Juanes, Gorillaz, and others while previewing her debut album with "Tyrant" and "Nuestro Planeta." Her debut full-length, Isolation, arrived in April 2018 and debuted at number 32 on the Billboard 200, hitting number four on the R&B/hip-hop chart and establishing her as a principal artist rather than just a featured voice.

The Groove Hunter currently tracks 13 editions of Kali Uchis releases on vinyl, including Red Moon In Venus, Sincerely, and Isolation in various pressings and color variants.
