Jarad Higgins built his sound on influences stretching across rock, punk, and hip-hop: Future, Chief Keef, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Kanye West, Billy Idol, Wu-Tang Clan, Fall Out Boy, and Black Sabbath all shaped his direction. His breakthrough came via SoundCloud with "All Girls Are The Same" and "Lucid Dreams," the latter peaking at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. After signing to Grade A Productions and then Interscope Records on a reported three-million-dollar deal, he released his debut Goodbye & Good Riddance in May 2018. The album debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200, went 5x Platinum, and spawned "Lean Wit Me" alongside his SoundCloud hits; later reissues added "Armed and Dangerous" and "Wasted" with Lil Uzi Vert. He collaborated with Future on the mixtape WRLD ON DRUGS, which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, and contributed "Hide" to the Spider-Verse soundtrack.

Death Race for Love arrived in March 2019 and topped the Billboard 200, preceded by singles "Robbery" and "Hear Me Calling." His final chart entry came with "Bandit" featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, which reached number 10 on the Hot 100. On December 8, 2019, Higgins suffered a drug-induced seizure at Chicago's Midway International Airport and died shortly after at a nearby hospital; the Cook County Medical Examiner later confirmed toxic levels of oxycodone and codeine. Reports emerged that he had recorded roughly two thousand songs before his death, leaving one of hip-hop's largest unreleased catalogs.
