About Interpol
The band formed on the NYU campus in 1997 when Daniel Kessler connected with drummer Greg Drudy, later adding bassist Carlos D. after a chance meeting in a history class. Paul Banks completed the core songwriting partnership after Kessler ran into his old Paris acquaintance, and Sam Fogarino settled behind the kit in 2000, replacing Drudy. Their sound centers on staccato bass lines, rhythmic harmonized guitars, and snare-heavy mixes that create a propulsive, angular energy distinct from other post-punk acts.
Interpol built momentum through the 2000s with releases including Our Love to Admire in 2007 and their self-titled LP in 2010, the latter marking a shift in direction after bassist Carlos Dengler departed. The band continued with El Pintor in 2014, followed by Marauder in 2018 and The Other Side of Make-Believe in 2022. Their physical discography has generated collector interest across vinyl reissues, particularly in the UK and European markets where different pressings have circulated.
