About Hozier
Andrew Hozier-Byrne grew up in Bray, County Wicklow, and briefly studied music at Trinity College Dublin before pursuing a recording contract with Universal Music. While at Trinity, he performed with the choral ensemble Anúna from 2008 to 2012 and appears on their 2012 album Illumination. This classical training shaped his approach to arrangement and orchestration, evident in his later work.
Hozier's self-titled debut arrived in September 2014 with five singles that became staples of alternative radio. Take Me to Church, from his 2013 EP of the same name, went viral and reached number two on the Irish charts, later earning a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. His second album, Wasteland, Baby!, dropped in March 2019 and debuted atop both the Irish Albums Chart and the Billboard 200, achieving gold certification in the US. The Nina Cried Power EP appeared in September 2018 as an interim project, with its title track reaching number one on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart.
