About Guns N Roses

The band's classic lineup of Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler released 'Appetite for Destruction' in 1987, an album that sat quietly until the 'Welcome to the Jungle' video broke through. The record eventually sold over 30 million copies worldwide and became the best-selling debut in US history, with 'Sweet Child o' Mine' and 'Paradise City' becoming staples of rock radio. The follow-up 'G N' R Lies' (1988) mixed new acoustic tracks with earlier material and reached number two on the Billboard 200, selling around ten million copies globally.

The twin releases 'Use Your Illusion I' and 'Use Your Illusion II' arrived in 1991 as a commercial statement, debuting at number two and number one respectively and combining for approximately 35 million copies sold worldwide. These albums produced some of the most recognizable rock singles of the era: 'You Could Be Mine,' 'Don't Cry,' and 'November Rain,' each backed by expensive music videos. After the Use Your Illusion Tour wrapped in 1993, the band released the punk covers album 'The Spaghetti Incident?' that same year. The mid-1990s through early 2000s brought extensive lineup shifts, with 'Chinese Democracy' (2008) marking a return after years of delays and reported production costs that made it one of the most expensive rock albums ever made. The band has sold over 100 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
