Faye Webster is an Atlanta-based folk artist who blurs lines between indie sensibility and hip-hop culture. Her sparse, emotionally direct sound emerged from the Awful Records crew, where she developed a distinctive approach to folk production that still connects deeply with the rap community.
About Faye Webster
Webster grew up in Atlanta and briefly attended Belmont University in Nashville before returning home to pursue music full-time. Her early work caught the attention of Awful Records founder Father, and she became embedded in that independent label's roster through both her music and her parallel work as a photographer. Her cover versions, including a reworking of Father's "Cheap Thrills" into introspective indie-folk, caught ears and established her as someone willing to operate across genre boundaries.
Beyond her recordings, Webster gained recognition in Atlanta's hip-hop scene through her portraiture, shooting rappers like Lil Yachty and Offset with a distinctive aesthetic influenced by painter Kehinde Wiley. She signed to Secretly Canadian in late 2018 and released Atlanta Millionaires Club in 2019 on the label, solidifying her position as a significant voice in contemporary folk. Her self-titled work arrived in 2017 on Awful Records and remains a key touchstone for collectors interested in that label's output.
