About Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy started when Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz, already friends, recruited high school musician Patrick Stump, who initially auditioned as a drummer before shifting to lead vocals and rhythm guitar. The band cut their teeth on independent releases through Uprising Records before signing to Fueled By Ramen for their 2003 full-length Take This to Your Grave. With Andy Hurley on drums, the lineup solidified and began drawing consistent crowds in the Chicagoland area, eventually catching the attention of Island Records in 2003.
Their Island Records debut From Under the Cork Tree, released in May 2005, marked the band's commercial breakthrough. The album debuted at number 9 on the Billboard 200 and went on to achieve double platinum status, fueled by the massive success of Sugar We're Goin' Down and Dance, Dance as singles. The follow-up Infinity on High in 2007 reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 in its opening week with 260,000 copies sold, proving the band had sustained momentum. This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race and Thnks fr th Mmrs became international hits, while the band also ventured into high-profile collaborations with Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Timbaland.
