Born in Hereford in 1986, Goulding grew up with folk influences before her time at the University of Kent exposed her to electronica. After relocating to West London, she connected with producers like Starsmith and Frankmusik who shaped her electro-pop direction. By 2009 she was posting early tracks on tastemaking blogs, earning BBC recognition as part of their Sound of 2010 poll and eventually signing with Polydor Records.
Her debut album Lights arrived in March 2010 and topped UK charts on its first week, anchored by the Top Five single Starry Eyed. The album was reissued later that year as Bright Lights with additional material. Her sophomore effort Halcyon in 2012 pushed further into electronic territory, followed by the Halcyon Days deluxe reissue in 2013 which spawned major hits like Burn and How Long Will I Love You. The third album Delirium in 2015 brought a more pop-focused sound through collaborations with producers Max Martin and Greg Kurstin, peaking at number three on both US and UK charts.
Goulding continued with soundtrack placements and collaborations through the late 2010s, including work with Calvin Harris, Kygo, Diplo, and others. The Groove Hunter currently tracks four editions of her releases, including I Know Too Much Pearl Sunrise, Brightest BlueExplicit Lyrics, Halycon, and Halcyon Nights.
