Bleachers debuted in 2014 with Strange Desire on RCA Records, establishing Antonoff's approach to layered synth-pop with guitar textures and introspective lyrics. The album's lead single Rollercoaster gained traction as a summer anthem, launching a touring cycle that kept him visible through 2015 and into 2016, including the Strange Desire World Tour and appearances with Charli XCX.

Gone Now arrived in June 2017 as a more developed statement, with the single Don't Take the Money working as an uplifting pop-rock piece centered on relationship values. For that album's rollout, Antonoff transported his childhood bedroom across the country as a mobile listening experience, allowing fans to hear Gone Now before its release. MTV Unplugged recorded at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park that November showed his live capabilities, pulling material from both his first two albums and later released as a standalone record. Throughout 2019, Antonoff pursued cover projects with the Terrible Thrills series, where female artists reinterpreted Gone Now tracks alongside unreleased Bleachers demos on vinyl.

Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night arrived July 30, 2021, with singles including 45 and Chinatown, the latter featuring Bruce Springsteen's participation. The album reinforced Antonoff's pop sensibilities while maintaining the introspective production he established on earlier work. The Groove Hunter currently tracks 9 editions across the Bleachers catalog, including pressings of Strange Desire Translucent, Gone Now Gold Palate, and the vinyl release everyone for ten minutes.
