Bad Company were an English rock supergroup that emerged from Free and Mott the Hoople in 1973, anchored by Paul Rodgers' vocals and Simon Kirke's drumming. They dominated the 1970s hard rock market with three consecutive top-five albums and became one of the decade's best-selling acts.
About Bad Company
The band formed in London with Rodgers and Kirke from Free, Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople, and King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell under manager Peter Grant. Their 1974 debut Bad Company hit number one on the Billboard 200 and went five times platinum in the US. The first three albums, Bad Company, Straight Shooter, and Run with the Pack, established them as chart fixtures on both sides of the Atlantic. Songs like Bad Company, Can't Get Enough, Feel Like Makin' Love, and Shooting Star became staples of classic rock radio. The band released five more studio albums through 1979 before taking a hiatus, returning with Rough Diamonds in 1982.
After disbanding, Bad Company reunited in 1986 with Brian Howe replacing Rodgers, shifting toward a pop-rock direction across four albums through 1992. Robert Hart briefly took vocal duties in 1995-1996 before Rodgers and Kirke reunited the original lineup in 1998 for The 'Original' Bad Co. Anthology and subsequent tours. The 2000s saw various configurations with Rodgers and Kirke alongside session musicians and guests like Slash and Neal Schon. Health complications ultimately ended touring activity in 2023, though the band received formal Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2025.
