Arctic Monkeys emerged from Sheffield in the early 2000s as one of the first bands to build a serious following through internet buzz rather than traditional radio play. Their sharp-edged alternative rock and Alex Turner's distinctive vocal delivery made them central to the mid-2000s UK rock revival.

The band formed in 2002 at Stocksbridge High School and gained traction when demo CDs from their gigs circulated across the internet starting in late 2004. They deliberately avoided mainstream radio channels like Top of the Pops, instead riding grassroots momentum that led to their 2006 debut Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not selling over 360,000 copies in its first week and breaking the UK record for debut album sales. That record also won the Mercury Prize and established them as major players in contemporary rock.
Their catalog shows consistent evolution: Favourite Worst Nightmare arrived in 2007 as a faster, louder follow-up that hit number one, while Humbug in 2009 saw them working with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme at Rancho De La Luna. By Suck It and See in 2011, the band had shifted toward a more accessible sound. Their fifth album AM, released in 2013, brought them significant commercial success with over 157,000 first-week sales and a Brit Award for Best British Album, though it represented another stylistic turn toward more electronic-influenced material.
The Groove Hunter currently tracks 13 editions across their catalog, including multiple pressings of Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug alongside their debut Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and later releases like Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino and The Car.
